What's around!?

To gain the best result from my own music magazine I decided to research whats around now. Where is the gap in the market? What audience should I appeal to? What genre should I focus on?|

According to the website 'About.com,' the top five music magazines of today are:

Q is a British based magazine but also applies to American pop fans. It is issued monthly and is packed with reviews of albums, music-related movies and DVDS, as well as current download lists, and interviews.

"Q modestly calls itself "The World's Greatest Music Magazine," and it is difficult to argue."-www.About.com

Rolling Stone is a US rock music magazines devoted to music, politics and popular culture. It has some of the best pop music writers working for it and is published every two weeks.

Entertainment Weekly has only been published since 1990 and is therefore still a relative newcomer to the world of popular music reporting. Although it broadly focus' on films, TV, books and video it includes detailed analyse of music videos.

The controversial magazine first appeared as a CD-ROM and then became a print magazine in 1999. It contains some very useful and informative pop music commentary.
